In my last entry I made mention of the Russian/Arab/Persian armies that will come up to destroy Israel only to be annihilated by God, Himself. But what is going to happen between now and then? What is next for Israel? The Bible speaks of another war to precede the Russian effort.
In recent months there has been a great deal of talk in the news about collaborations between Russia and Iran, Iran and Syria, Syria and Hezbollah in Lebanon and as usual the Palestinians complain bitterly against Israel. It has been reported that Syria, an intractable enemy of Israel, has furnished SCUD missiles to Hezbollah, the terrorist group within Lebanon. These SCUD unguided missiles are the same that Hussein used against Coalition Forces during the first Gulf War. From Southern Lebanon these missiles could easily reach Tel Aviv or Jerusalem. We can be fairly certain that Hezbollah’s intention for these missiles is not for defense. They have no aggressors. Again there have been many news reports of rumors of a war against Israel this summer.
Another interesting factoid is that the weapons of mass destruction thought to have been in Iraqi possession preceding the Second Gulf War are thought to have been moved and stored in Syria. If, this coming attack against Israel by Hezbollah and friends involves the use of chemical or biological weapons by Syria, I believe it is well within the realm of probability that Israel will counter with a nuclear weapon against Damascus. There are a couple of prophecies in the Bible that lead me to conclude that this will take place. First, there is this from Ezekiel 38:8.
“After many days you (Russia) will be called to arms.
In future years you will invade a land that has recovered from war,
whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of
Israel, which had long been desolate.”
We are living in the only time in history were people have been gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate. Also this invasion by Russia will take place only after a previous war from which Israel has recovered.
Another prophecy concerning Damascus, Syria has yet to be fulfilled. Damascus has the distinction of being the oldest, continuously populated city in the world. It has never in its history been totally destroyed. But we have this prophecy from Isa. 17:1:
An oracle concerning Damascus:
"See, Damascus will no longer be a city
but will become a heap of ruins.
I believe that Israel’s destruction of Damascus along with the wealth she will amass as result of her recently discovered oil and natural gas deposits will be the precursors and rationalization for the Russian-Arab invasion to follow. Russia will want to plunder Israel for those oil and gas reserves. Russia currently sells oil and gas to the EU and has them over a barrel, pardon the pun. If the EU has another source of energy in Israel, Russia will want to stop that. Also remember that later, the Anti-Christ will come out of the EU (the Revived Roman Empire) and make a peace treaty with Israel. The Arabs and Iran will gladly partner with Russia to destroy Israel to satisfy their satanic hatred of the Jewish people. But as described in Ezek 38 God, Himself will destroy those armies and all the world will know that He is Lord. It is very important that you are on the right side of Bible prophecy. Why should you believe Bible prophecy? Because the prophecies in Biblical literature have the unique distinction of being the only prophecies that have a 100% rate of accuracy. No other writing come even close to that! Jesus Christ literally fulfilled over 300 prophecies during His first coming, the first of those prophecies coming 4000 years before His birth. Is there anything harder than accurately predicting an event 4000 years before it happens? In a word, “no.” Since the Bible accurately predicted the impossible in the past, you can count on it to be accurate for future events. My suppositions concerning timing of these events are not prophecy, only educated guess work. But the prophecies themselves will come to pass. Guarenteed!
